Steve Collums (2012)Steve Collums had an outstanding 35-year career as a teacher, coach, administrator and Headmaster in independent Christian schools in Tennessee. Apart from three years at Briarcrest Christian School, he spent his entire career at Evangelical Christian School, where he served as Headmaster from 2001 until his untimely death in 2009. A passionate and dedicated teacher and coach, as an administrator - and especially as Headmaster - he became a remarkable and visionary educational leader who believed that "All truth is God's truth," and on that basis inspired students to strive for the highest levels of spiritual, moral, and intellectual development during their high school careers. Moreover, throughout his career he was actively engaged in helping other independt school, organizing conferences for Christian schools in West Tennessee, serving as an active member of TAIS Administrator SErvices Committee, and reaching out to newly appointed Heads of School to help them connect with their peers and colleagues in the state. Steve Collums' passion, dedication and leadership not only benefitted his own school, but through his work, and especially his example, he made independent school education better. |
